Wondering what is happening at the UBC Orchard Garden on a hot, sunny, Wednesday morning? Weeding and mulching, of course! Nothing could stop these eager CFE Elementary school teachers from slathering on sunscreen, gulping down some water and heading out in the beds to rip out weeds. How satisfying it was to battle the spreading, dark green, spiny leafed , "Cirsium arvense", more commonly known as the Canada thistle.
Hauling a wheelbarrow full of weeds is the most satisfying gardening feeling ever!
While clearing all the beds, we found some hidden blueberry bushes!
We covered the pathways with mulch and presto! The garden looked refreshed and ready to grow!
