Graduating, Hiring, and Growing!

Although classes are out right now, The Orchard Garden is in full swing!  We harvested 47 pounds of zucchini and 33 pounds of cucumbers for last week's CSA.  Our tomatoes and tomatillos are quickly ripening.  We're up to our eyeballs in bush beans and succulent chard.  This is the height of the summer!

And yet, there are goodbyes to be said, and new beginnings to embark upon, notably:
  • Djamila will be moving to Portland to work as the Food and Garden Educator at Abernethy Elementary School!  Always nice when our graduate studies actually manifest into a dream job ;)  Click here to find out more about this award-winning school garden: http://gardenofwonders.org/ !  I will be replaced by Kate beginning in September.  I will give her a proper introduction in my next and last post...
  • Jay & Natasha (our beloved and extremely knowledgeable garden coordinators) are riding their bikes to Mexico this fall!!  We will be hiring for at least one of their positions in the next few weeks- please stay tuned...
To celebrate the season and these upcoming changes, last week we gathered as a team in the garden to do what we do best- share a meal.
